John Tierney
Born in Ennistymon, Co. Clare, John has lived in Meath for the past 30 years. He has a lifelong interest in art and art history. His interests also include architecture, history, and literature especially the works of Patrick Kavanagh and James Joyce. He finds inspiration in the art of the Northern Renaissance, Dutch art of the Golden Age, Impressionism and Post-impressionism. His education includes a Diploma in Fine Art from National College of Art & Design, Dublin and a Diploma in the History of European Painting from Trinity College, Dublin. John works in acrylic, oil, pastels and pencils, collage, multimedia, plaster and bronze casting and printmaking, and while his art focus is wide-ranging he is most often inspired by the incidents and people that surprise him daily.
