MCC Writer – in – Residence One-to-One Mentoring Sessions

Are you struggling to complete your novel or could you use a trained eye to give you detailed feedback on your writing? Our Writer-in-Residence, Oisín McGann is offering one-to-one mentoring sessions where he will work with you to develop your ideas and make suggestions for improvement. He can help you develop characters, structure plots and improve your writing technique. Each feedback session is tailored to the individual.

Oisín has more than 15 years of experience as a published author and teacher and is involved in a mentoring programme for the Irish Writers Centre and Words Ireland.  

Eligibility:  All applicants must be resident in Meath and able to attend a meeting in Meath (dates and venue to be decided)

Please note that Mentoring will be offered on a first come first served basis and all feedback and meetings must be completed by the end of October 2019.

Adults: Please submit a piece of writing no more than 10,000 words.  You will receive written feedback and a one hour individual meeting with our Writer-in-Residence

Children: Please submit a piece of writing no more than 2,000 words (this can include illustrations or comic book art).  You will receive written feedback and a half-hour individual meeting with our Writer-in-Residence

Please send your submission to or with “One-to-one mentoring” in the subject heading.  Please also include your name, age (if child), phone number, email address and the area of the County in which you reside.  We will use this information to help schedule the feedback meetings.

Meath County Council’s Writer-in-Residence is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Meath programme.  The residency runs for the period from April 2019 to October 2019
