Meath County Council Arts OfficeMeath Arts Office Visual Artists Training Initiative – Writing About Your Work. March 21st in the Headfort Arms Hotel from 10.30am to 4.30pm

Meath County Council Arts Office in partnership with Visual Artists Ireland will host a continuing professional arts development day for visual artists from Meath. Writing About Your Work with Patricia Clyne Kelly will be held on March 21st in the Headfort Arms Hotel from 10.30am – 4.30pm and is an initiative of the Meath County Council Arts Office FEACH Professional Development Programme.

An artist is required to write about their work for press releases, marketing purposes and for proposals or applications.

As press, galleries and funding bodies don’t have the capacity to interview everyone seeking press coverage, exhibitions and supports, a clear and concise artist’s written submission is essential.

The artists ability to convey this information in statements, biogs and CV’s aims to assist with people’s understanding of their work and what they are trying to achieve.

This training will provide a workshopped approach to developing artist’s statement involving writing exercises and peer feedback.  Patricia will discuss do’s and don’ts when preparing artists statements and CV’s while assisting in the development of appropriate, clear and concise language to describe work in a way that makes it accessible.

This session is designed to give artists and designers the know-how and understanding to write clearly articulated and comprehensive CV’s and statements for a variety of situations such as proposals: for funding; to galleries; for job applications; for press and marketing purposes.

This very practical training will take place in the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells on March 21st from 10.30 – 4.30. Fee €20 Visual Artists Ireland Member/ €40 non- member. Booking is essential at
