International Filmmakers to Descend on Kells: 3-7 August

INTERNATIONAL FILMMAKERS TO DESCEND ON KELLS
KELLS is bracing itself for the arrival of dozens of filmmakers and guests from all over the world for the Guth Gafa International Documentary Film Festival which is taking place 3-7 August at Headfort House.
Over the four day event, filmmakers from as far away as Siberia, Uraguay, Canada and Australia will attend the festival with their latest films.
Over 60 of the best and latest documentary films from over 25 different countries around the world, including 32 Irish Premieres and one World Premiere, will be screened over four days.
Among this year’s special guests will be will be octogenarian farmer, Niels Stokholm and his wife Rita, whose battle to maintain their biodynamic farm in Denmark in the face of resistance from the authorities is the subject of the very beautiful Good Things Await.
Another special visitor will be Irishman, Padraig O’Malley, the subject of The Peacemaker ,who has led an extraordinary career brokering peace in areas of conflict throughout the world.
Award winning documentary film makers, Jerry Rothwell (Sour Grapes) and Taggart Siegal (Seed:The Untold Story & The Real Dirt on Farmer John) will be among the filmmakers in attendance.
Alongside an incredible range of films there will also be mouth-watering food, wine and craft beer and cider, live entertainment, and a great atmosphere in the Guth Gafa festival village in in the most stunning surroundings of Headfort House, just outside Kells.
To mark the festival’s 10th birthday, Congolese guitarist, Niwel Tsumbu and Irish multi-instrumentalist Eamonn Cagney will headline.
